The holidays are just around the corner, and that means all kinds of festive events are coming to the city. From the famed Toronto Christmas Market to an annual lights festival and an iconic ballet performance, check out the top three holiday events happening in Toronto in 2021.

The Nutcracker

Is there anything better than seeing The Nutcracker at Christmas? We don’t think so. Experience the magic of seeing this iconic ballet in person courtesy of The National Ballet of Canada. Taking up residence at the Four Seasons Centre for the Arts from December 10th until the 31st, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see this two-act, two-hour ballet. Tickets are available online and all COVID-19 protocols will be followed.

The Distillery Winter Village

It’s time to get your Christmas shopping on at the Toronto Christmas Market (now The Distillery Winter Village). Despite a little rebranding, this beloved event promises to be just as festive as always. There will be all kinds of artisanal gifts and gourmet food courtesy of some of the most popular eateries in the city. As per usual, at the centre of the market will be a 50-foot-tall Christmas tree. The tree lighting ceremony is taking place on November 18th, which is also the opening day of The Distillery Winter Village for 2021.

Cavalcade of Lights Festival 2021

Prepare to marvel at thousands of glittering lights at the Cavalcade of Lights Festival 2021. Hosted by the City of Toronto, this annual event was cancelled last year to the pandemic but is back in full swing for 2021. The Cavalcade of Lights Festival is set to take over Nathan Phillips Square on November 21st from dusk until 11:00 pm. There will be live music, a fireworks show, lights displays, and a tree lighting ceremony (the Nathan Phillips Square Christmas tree is said to be adorned with over 3,000 LED lights this year). Dress warmly and have fun at this beloved Toronto holiday event!

If you’re going to be in Toronto this holiday season, then be sure to attend any of the festive events above. And if you need a place to stay during your trip, you’re always welcome at the Best Western Plus Travel Hotel Toronto Airport.
