Live music is finally back in full swing, and, boy, does it feel good. If you’re planning your next weekend getaway or local staycation in Toronto next month, make sure to add some of these upcoming shows to your itinerary. From indie rock to throat singing, there’s something for everyone.
Indie rockers Car Seat Headrest stop in at Danforth Music Hall on March 23, with support from Bartees Strange. The band will be selling a limited run of CDs that compile their EPs, MADLO: Influences and MADLO: Remixes, and are only available to purchase from their shows on this tour run.
Longtime collaborators Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are touring North America for the very first time as a duo, with a limited run of shows across March and April in support of their critically acclaimed album, CARNAGE. Cave has described the album as “a brutal but very beautiful record nested in a communal catastrophe.” They perform at Massey Hall on March 31.
A member of the Order of Canada, Polaris Music Prize and JUNO Award winner, and recipient of multiple honorary doctorates, Tanya Tagaq is one of the most important artists of our generation. From Ikaluktutiak, Nunavut, the avant-garde throat singer, composer, and best-selling author just released her latest album, Tongues. She performs at Massey Hall on March 30.
