The world is currently facing unprecedented times—the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our health, businesses and global movement. While non-essential travel between numerous countries is restricted, many find themselves immobilized or needing to travel during this time. If you find yourself having to travel or are anchored in a destination that's not your home, practice these measures to ensure you stay safe and healthy.

Clean your hands

According to the CDC, you should wash your hands with soap and water frequently and for at least 20 seconds. If you can't wash your hands, antibacterial soap with at least 60% is sufficient. As well it's imperative to avoid touching your face, particularly your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid contact with others

The World Health Organization advises practicing social distancing, the act of maintaining 6 feet apart from others to curb the spread of the virus. Governments around the world are calling for citizens to stay indoors as much as possible, only leaving to get essentials.

Prepare with only necessary supplies

In the case that your destination city imposes a city-wide quarantine, be sure you purchase only essential items that are enough for two weeks. While it's necessary to prepare for your safety, it's also important to not hoard an unnecessary amount of goods.

When travelling it's necessary to have masks and hand sanitizer on hand, in case you become sick or come in contact with someone infected. Because supplies are currently low for these items, prevention treatments like sanitizing highly used surfaces are a good alternative.

No matter where you are—practicing these measures will keep you safe, protect others, and help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

From everyone at the Best Western Travel Hotel Toronto Airport, we wish that you keep strong in these uncertain times, stay updated on the news, check-in with friends and family and practise self-care.
